Borderlands Centerpiece!

Borderlands!
Guns! Robots! Insane loot! EXPLOSIONS!

I tried to find flowers that were desolate and gave the feel of a desert wasteland. I think they turned out awesome.

Since this is such a giant game there were a lot of things I could go with to represent it. I ended up with the logos for the Gun Manufactures and a papercraft Claptrap!

Monopoly Centerpiece!

I decided to go with a Monopoly centerpiece for two reasons. One, it is a lot more recognizable and accessible for the guests who don't play video games or board games much. And two, because it is a nod to my parents. I grew up playing games but one game we never played was Monopoly. That is because early in my parents marriage my mother gave my father and ultimatum: either they get divorced or they never play Monopoly ever again.

We are a competitive family..

I got a flower of every color I could find of a property. The money we took from the Nintendo themed Monopoly game. That version of Monopoly is atrocious, I am glad I finally found a use for it..!

Batman Centerpiece!

The recent Batman: Arkham series of games have been absolutely amazingly fun!

The flowers are pretty basic black and yellow with a Batman and a Joker! There are also three of the Riddler's Question Marks hidden throughout the vase.

Can you find them all?

Legend of Zelda Centerpiece!

For the flowers I decided to go with a forest vibe since in the later games Link usually starts out near one and the Forest Temple is among the first, and of course we cannot forget about The Great Deku Tree.

The two characters you might have noticed are from different games. Zelda is from Skyward Sword, and Link is from Windwaker. Since our cake is LoZ themed I wanted to pull from games that we didn't cover with the cake.

Mario Centerpiece!

For the character cut-outs I used the characters from the Paper Mario games.
(get it? I am hilarious)

I made the piranha plants entirely from styrofoam. Painted them and then J made lovely green cardboard leaves. He also attemped to paint the vase but cheap paint is cheap paint. So I did some scraping of it and made it I dunno "art"...
